Merger of Studio62 with Studio Aurora

When Studio 62 was incorporated in 2001, as is true with many companies, it started small, but it had a
big dream! That dream was to provide an international standard of service locally ‘grown’. This meant
that over the years, the Company adopted a professional approach to it’s practice, while working with
an ever growing and changing team of young, dynamic Kenyan designers, providing them with the tools
and environment in which they could grow as professionals while at the same time delivering world
class design in the projects the Company handled in Kenya and the region.

Studio 62 has grown steadily over the intervening years – setting standards, maintaining standards and
establishing its client base and although, until recently, Suzanne Watts, the Company’s founder, has
been the ‘face’ of Studio 62, the Company has always been more than just on person!

Over the past decade, significant thought has gone into how Studio 62 will transition as it continues to
grow and move forward. The ultimate answer and strategy became to merge Studio 62 with a second
design house, thereby strengthening the Company through the amalgamation of senior management
and client bases.

This exciting transition was finalised on March 1 st 2020, when Studio Aurora – owned and operated by
Jaz Gharial was merged with Studio 62.

Studio Aurora was incorporated in 2011 by Jaz Gharial after working at Studio 62 for a couple of years.
Studio Aurora was set up to provide bespoke interior design and consulting expertise that work in line
with individual aspirations for all kinds of commercial, residential and hospitality projects. Applying to all
interior design challenges and offering contemporary solutions for interior designing, space planning,
interior finish selection, customized designing and interior decor.

The opportunity to merge with Studio 62 was one not to be missed. Together both companies would be
able to not only share their Clientele but expertise as well creating a dynamic partnership within the
design field.

Under the terms of the Share Holder’s Agreement that was signed at the time of merging the two
Companies, it was agreed that the Company would continue to trade as Studio 62 with Suzanne Watts
assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer and Jaz Gharial acting as Studio 62’s Managing Director.

Studio 62 is excited to be moving forward, further strengthening the brand that has earned it such
recognition locally and globally for the standards of design and practice they provide their clients
through the merger of two solid design firms.
